PLUMBING CODE/LICENSE VIOLATION REPORT

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As licensed plumbers, we all see an increasing amount of plumbing work being performed by unlicensed individuals. When the first plumbing code was written, the intent was to protect the health and safety of the public. Plumbing work done by unlicensed persons accomplish neither of these and cost the consumer a tremendous amount of money to correct their substandard work.

The PHCC/Master Plumbers Associations of Wisconsin along with other groups and associations from across the state have complained repeatedly about these problems, but get little satisfaction. Budget constraints and a lack of enforcement power are the most frequently cited reasons for the lack of enforcement when these types of problems are reported.

To help show how widespread these problems are and how they affect the consumer, we are asking you to take a few minutes to fill out the attached form reporting any license and or code violations that you are aware of. We are compiling a database to show the state why more enforcement is needed. This information will be shared with other groups throughout the state so that we can all work together to improve enforcement statewide.

Please note that we as an association cannot go after license violators ourselves. For liability reasons, we are asking only for generic locations and are not asking for the names of the unlicensed persons. Your name and phone number may be added, but is not required.

Several important pieces of information needed include the impact on the health and safety of these violations. If possible, also fill in the cost to correct these problems, if known, so that we can show how the consumer is financially affected by the use of unlicensed persons.

Thank you for taking time to provide this information.
